On Friday, May 8th, both the 7th and 8th grade bands will perform at the OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Contest at Big Walnut HS in Sunbury, Ohio. The groups will be evaluated by three (3) judges and receive comments and a rating.
7th grade will perform at 4:50 pm and 8th grade at 7:10 pm.
We will transport all students by bus. The busses will depart Dempsey at 3:30 and return following the 8th grade performance. Approximate arrival time back to Dempsey is 8:30 pm.
Attire is the Black Musician Polo and Black slacks or skirt. Please wear dress shoes.
Parents are welcome to attend this event (It is free) and listen to the students perform. It is always more fun to perform in front of a crowd versus an empty auditorium, so please consider coming to support the kids.
Monday, May 4th will be the Spring Concert for Willis and Dempsey Bands. The program will begin at 7 pm at the Hayes Performing Arts Center and will feature our 5th - 8th grade bands as well as some of the Soloists and small groups that performed at the Middle School Solos and Ensemble Contests, April 18.
Performer Arrival Time:
5th and 6th grade: 6:30 pm, Meet in Choir Room
Jazz Band, 7th and 8th grades: 7 pm, Meet in Band room
Soloists and groups will be informed separately of arrival time

Please plan on staying for the entire concert as all of our students have worked very hard and deserve a full audience. It should last about one hour. There will be cookies and punch served following the concert in the Hayes Commons.
We will begin with 5th grade and progress to the 8th grade. Soloists and small groups will be mixed throughout the large groups.

The first All-City Music Festival featuring all the musical groups performing on one day will be held on Saturday, February 15 from 11 am -5:30 pm. This unique concert provides a unique opportunity for parents and students to see the entire spectrum of the music program offered through Delaware City Schools. in addition, there will be a chili cook-off with the chance to sample a variety of culinary delights. Details for how to participate will follow soon. Below you will find the schedule for each group performing.
Students in the Bands, Strings and Vocal program will be performing at the Dempsey Veteran's Day Assembly this Friday, November 8, 2013 at 8 am. Students are asked to wear their Black Musician Polo and jeans for the performance.
Students received their sales brochures for the annual Poinsettia sale on Friday, November 1, 2013. Students have until November 12th to collect orders. Money must be collected at time of order. We are asking that students submit ONE check for the entire amount due. Checks are to be made payable to: Delaware City Schools
There are two sizes Regular ($12.50) and Large ($22.50)
Colors are: White, Red, Pink, Burgundy and Marble
Back this year is the Christmas Rose plant ($20.00) and Visions of Grandeur Poinsettia ($25.00)
