May 6th Concert at Hayes High School, concert starts at 7.
Report time for Wind Ensemble is 6:15 in the band room. We will wear our band dress and tuxes. Come support the Dempsey and Hayes bands! Rock on the Range was one of the biggest money raisers we had for the 2012 season. Our tireless volunteers raised over EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS for the band! We may have purchased the uniforms already, but we still have some tricks up our sleeve, and if we cannot raise the money these tricks will disappear! Please consider volunteering your time to give our students the BEST marching band experience possible! If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact Mr. Gary Hughes or Mrs. Sandy Hanula. Their emails are ghughes1@columbus.rr.com, and skimsmom@columbus.rr.com respectively. The next alcohol training session with be on May 7th, PLEASE consider helping us! The training session is a quick and easy class that we are required to take before we can serve alcohol in the concession stand at the games and concerts. We will post updates with the times as they arrive. For Saturday and Sunday (5/18 and 5/19) we are uncertain where we will be at this time. It depends on how many volunteers we have. We could be in our stand or maybe in the field bunker like last year. We will need to staff any location from around 9 AM to 11 PM. Trying for the field bunker so we can put the tip jars out. Sandy and Gary will be there all day, both days! So if you are not able to come at all, PLEASE thank them for their hard work and dedication to our students. We are looking for anybody willing to work all day but understand that is a long time so are going to try to split into 2 shifts: 9 AM – 4 PM and 4 PM – 11 PM. Might also try a shift from 3 – 9 with 3 or 4 people to help cover breaks and dinner. Sodexo had some pretty good food for us last year at lunch and dinner as well! We need 14 alcohol trained people at all times each day, student runner are also appreciated, there is much to do! Please let us know what days and shifts you would like work and thanks for considering volunteering for the Grand Pacer Marching Band! Congratulations to the Regional A Winter Guard on a historic season! The guard earned 3rd place in their class, as well as receiving the "Most Improved Cologuard of the Year" award for the entire circuit!
A special congratulations goes out to Mr. Lou Herzog on receiving the "Guard Director of the Year" award for the OIPA circuit. We are extremely lucky to have someone as passionate and caring as Lou is for our guard. Congrats Lou, you deserve it! The Winter Guard season comes to a close this weekend with OIPA State Championships this weekend. Our guard had put an INCREDIBLE amount of work into the 2013 show, Arirang. The guard has had a record breaking season by placing first at back to back competitions last weekend, as well as setting the all-time highest score for our guards! The show really is something special.
TONIGHT at 5:15, the guard will be performing their show one last time before finals. EVERYONE is welcome to attend and cheer on the girls as they head out to OIPA State Finals. The Guard and Band Staff could not be more proud of the work that they have put into the show and it makes such a big difference to performance in front of an audience. If you have the time, please come out and support our guard! State Finals are at Wapakoneta High School this Saturday, April 6, 2013. The school is located at 1 Redskin Trail, Wapakoneta, OH 45895. Be careful, MapQuest may actually get you there better than your GPS. The girls take the floor at 12:01. Admission prices are $13. If you have an opportunity to see their show (at practice or at State Finals), you won't be disappointed! Just a quick reminder about the Cadence Club meeting tonight at 7pm. There is much to discuss as we gear up for the marching band season!
